EGPS employs several methods to measure the effectiveness of its sustainability initiatives across different scopes:

  1. Scope 1 Emissions (Diesel Usage):
    • EGPS assesses diesel quantities used on company facilities and by the fleet annually.
    • By tracking diesel consumption, the company can manage and reduce direct emissions.
    • Regular reports on diesel usage provide insights into environmental impact.
  2. Scope 2 (Electricity Usage):
    • EGPS reviews electricity bills throughout the year to assess energy consumption.
    • The current energy provider is Bord Gais.
    • High winter energy bills result from office storage heaters powered by electricity.
    • Monitoring electricity usage helps identify areas for improvement.
  3. Assessment of Storage Heaters (Scope 2):
    • EGPS evaluates existing storage heaters (specifically the ‘Splash Proof Quartz Electronic’ heaters).
    • These heaters have been in place for thirty years.
    • Considering more efficient heating alternatives can reduce energy consumption.
  4. Scope 3 (Waste Management):
    • EGPS reviews waste bills for 2023 to enhance recycling rates.
    • Excess cardboard packaging is taken to a nearby civic amenity site for recycling.
    • Enva recycling handles filters and waste oil.
    • Waste reduction efforts contribute to sustainability.
  5. Commuting Emissions (Scope 3):
    • EGPS assesses commuting emissions for office and warehouse employees.
    • Employees working on generator servicing are included under fleet emissions (part of scope 1).
    • Promoting sustainable commuting options can reduce overall emissions.
  6. Product Focus: Stage V Silent Generator (Scope 3):
    • EGPS reviews the benefits of the Stage V silent generator.
    • Improvements in air quality, noise reduction, and efficiency make this product appealing.
    • Increased sales of the Stage V generator will contribute to reduced scope 3 emissions.
  7. Switching to HVO Fuel (Scope 1):
    • EGPS plans to switch to HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) fuel for operations and the fleet.
    • This move will reduce scope 1 emissions (direct emissions) and demonstrate commitment to sustainability.

EGPS’s commitment to sustainability extends across its operations, products, and environmental impact
